Paver Texture and Color

But it takes more than throwing down a few plants and adding a flowerbed to make something truly unique and special. When you are designing a space (indoor or outdoor), there are many different aspects that have to be considered. Probably the most important thing you need to think about is the functional value your new space is going to serve. If you are working with a professional landscaper or contractor, they will help you determine how to best utilize things.

For instance, do you want to put in a sports court for your kids to enjoy? A nice BBQ pit? Or do you want to go big with a pool and accompanying patio/walkway? If you are a prospective builder in any of these senses, you’ll have to consider space and the budget, but also the materials themselves, the pavers.

Paver Texture

In addition to how color can be a great design option to play with, the variation of textures can go a long way to make your space visually appealing. Pavers can be more rough and aggregate cut or they can be smooth and soft – the type of paver selected will make or break the feel of whatever you create.

Consider that rough cuts will look natural and original whereas pavers with a smoother finish will look a bit more manicured and intentionally put together. Consider how human traffic will flow in the space you are creating. Pavers are naturally slip resistant, but the degree to which they succeed in this is largely due to the texture.

Paver Color

Another great way to make sure your paver job turns out well is to give a little bit of thought to the color scheme of the area you are working on. Because pavers come in a wide spectrum of colors, selecting the right hue can be a challenge. Consider the color layout and overall structural feel of your home. Is your home more on the warm cozy side or cool and chic side? Is it a traditional style home, or does it have more of a modern urban feel? If you want a space to look natural and blend with its environment, go with browns, greys, and greens. If you desire a bigger contrast, go for black or something that really sticks out.

If we’re losing you with any of this, speaking to a paving professional or landscape architect may be in order. Not everyone has an eye for design so it’s something to consider. Either way, before the first brick has been laid, make sure someone has given paver texture and color a bit of concerted thought.
