Brick Pavers: Your Cement Alternative

Brick Paver Installation

After deciding on your final design and layout, the area needs to be dug out about 7 inches deep in order to provide a solid foundation for your new brick pavers to lie. Next, the actual bricks are laid and arranged to conform to your design decisions. This is a good step to spend some time on, as it is much easier to move bricks around in this stage than the next. After you have finalized the layout, sand is poured over the bricks to seal in the cracks. A brick paver contractor is also recommended for this as the more efficient you are, the more cost effective your project will be. Once you have your bricks where they need to be, it’s time to clean up and enjoy! After about 6 months of using your new brick pavers, a layer of sealant will need to be applied to keep your bricks looking like new.

Maintenance and Repairs

After you have applied this initial layer of sealant, it is recommended to apply additional layers every 3 to 7 years. This can vary depending on the weather and traffic exposure your brick pavers are getting.  We recommend consulting with a professional brick paver to be sure you have the right maintenance plan.

If something happens to a portion of your brick pavers, they are fairly straight forward to fix. As each brick paver is separate, you typically can replace just the damaged area without having to affect the rest of the structure.
